Skin effect is a solution of Maxwell equations in conductors: sigma (depth of e/m field in metal) = sqrt(pi/(frequency x conductivity x permeability). Substitute numbers for Cu, and you'll see that it starts to be noticeable at radio frequencies (100 kHz and up), so it does not affect electric current of sound frequencies (0.1-10 kHz) yet.

So, indeed, everything obeys math and math explains everything.

Sometimes humans just do not know math. Especially when many equations involved (hurricane, for instance).
