The Moon

Is the existence of the moon in a specific orbit in the first place is a mere accident? Of course there a sufficient amount of physics behind that. I have also read different theories about the separation of moon from earth 4.5 billion years ago.

All I want to know is how much room is there in the Laws of Physics, provided the physical constants for earth and moon be the same, for the evolution/ formation of moon ?

Is it merely an accident or just physics ?
