The simplest form of energy is a photon. Whether you call it a particle is a matter of definition. Other forms of energy (potential, kinetic, heat, electrical) all are associated with material.

In current cosmology theory, there is the concept of "dark energy", that is the energy of the vacuum of space. This is the closest thing to energy without particles that I can think of.
