Its interesting and fun to really work through the speculative physics with respect to what happens to freely falling observers inside the event horizon. Most everyting you said wouldn't be true but it is easy to see where you got these ideas (its common to hear similar ideas from folks trying to expand on a few things they heard about black hole physics). I used to do the same thing.
A great introduction to general relativity which explicitly evaluates black hole spacetimes is Edwin Taylor's and John Archibald Wheeler's "Exploring Black Holes". They use the Schwarzchild solution to Einstein's equations and the Kerr solution to Einstein's equations along with algebra and calculus to examine these spacetimes.
