Expansion of the Universe is established fact.

Light is not longitudinal, but transverse wave.

If the Universe expands slower than escape velocity, it is positively curved (too much mass per volume). If faster - negatively (too little mass). If expansion rate is equal to escape velocity (density=critical), it is flat.
