The universe is so-called "flat" simply because it is in stable orbit about its own center of mass. It is not expanding. The redshift of starlight is caused by ordinary longitudinal wave dispersion as it travels through the ether, same as waves in water (standard physics principle). The apparent acceleration of (non-)expansion is caused by a curve thrown into the redshift by energy transfer lags (standard thermodynamics principle) which are non-linear, whereas the long-accepted Doppler-shift interpretation is linear.
