Alex-You seem to think that the equivalence principle doesn't exist for doing the physics around the black hole? To determine the redshift or blueshift of the period of light emitted from different radius the local observers at given radii use SR to do the physics. Local observers always use SR to do the physics.
dtshell 1/(1-2M/r1)1/2=dt=dtshell 2/(1-2M/r2)1/2

dtshell 2/dtshell 1=(1-2M/r2)1/2/(1-2M/r1)1/2
If you do the energy conservation I showed you and have your pulse of light emitted at r=2M+dr and received far away you'll see that its not zero. Its zero when emitted at r=2M. I can show you why a pulse of light emitted from the front or back of a freely falling rocket inside the black hole always ends up at the singularity.
