If sound field were a light field, it would be shifted toward red from a receding source and shifted toward blue with approaching source. In otherwards if the train is leaving it is contracted in the direction of its motion, if the train is approaching it is contracted in the direction of its motion. refer http://geocities.com/bkparque/iconein.jpg
