More On Schwarzschild Solution

I don't think that the situation is that gloomy.

You might try looking at the the first two sections of Lecture 5 in the Feynmann Lectures on Gravitation for a discussion of the precession of the perihelion of Mercury. The Schwarzschild approximation assumes that for an orbital object, the potential energy is small compared to its mass and this results in an error at small r. So the Schwarzschild solution is not a good model for a black hole. It is even off slightly for the precession of the perihelion of Mercury.

If you or anyone else comes across a better solution please post it or a URL.
