Black holes don't always take in matter (they're *NOT* vacuum cleaners and they *Don't* suck everything into them. When they do take in matter, they DO get bigger (er... the event horizon does ayways). Remember the more mass you have the more gravity you have. Black holes have immense gravity and immense mass. If you add mass, you add gravity. The black hole doesn't get any denser (it's already at an infinite density) so it must therefore get larger. |
