Hi, As my friends and I were talking one day on our walk home from school, the subject of how magnets pull electrons off atoms came up. Our question is, with enough focused electromagnetic force, could a strong electro- magnet, strip an atom free of it`s electrons or at least most of them. If so what result would that yield
- Protons seperating from the nutrons in the nucleus????
- Nucleus repelled away by the strong negative attraction by the magnet.

P.S. We`re talking about a magnetic force on a small number of atoms not just a piece of metal.
