Though you can`t see a black hole with your eyes (visible light), you can "see" them with an instrument because they are strong X- Ray sources. This is due to the spiral of gas violently revolving around the black hole at nearly the speed of light. The Gas becomes very hot and emmit x-rays. hope this helps.
