Instead of squished, I think it is more like you would be stretched so so thin that you would be torn in to little tiny, molecule sized bits...and this would happen some time before you reached the event horizon.
It is called the tidal effect, and since it does that to everything, every material thing(yes, your spaceship too), it can not be avoided, going very fast does not change or cancel the tidal effect. Diving straight in is a suicide mission.
