I have heard of several experiments as such. However many of these experiements are not conclusive. Many theories have been put forward regarding speed of light being broken by the use of exotic matter.
The problem to consider is what is the observation relative to. Since photons are ageless, and travel at a constant velocity, then applying Special Relativity the perception of other objects seems like they travel faster than light! This is a common perception, but in reality it is not true!
I have discussed these ideas with many and these ideas of speeds far greater do not prove valid.
