Err. How do you know this? It is impossible to describe what is "outside" a universe which is unbounded (i.e. you can go as far as you like in any direction). What is more feasible (but more dificult to imagine) is that the universe is just getting bigger. It cannot spread into some medium outside of its boundaries, because there isn`t one. Or maybe there is. Who knows? I don`t.
