The question you are really asking is; what is space itself made of? This of course is the driving question of most thinkers. Considering that in outer space actual particles are spread very sparsely about, if you were to confine a small pertion of this "empty" space you would then be left with the only the very fabric of space. As for what that fabric consists of, who knows? I would recommend reading THE ELEGANT UNIVERSE by Brian Greene. This book deals with Superstring Theory, an idea that I cannot bring myself to agree with fully, yet it does yield several good insights into the fundamental nature of the universe. Man should never know too much but that knowledge which is gained through both passion and perspiration shall be his, for when he is pure of heart that which is desired is deserved.
