I`ve pondered the same question. Here`s my guess.

The Universe`s is not geographic, its not 3-D. The universe is at least 4-D. The human mind visualizes the universe as being 3-D. We picture this 3-D model as being warped by mater, but the true universe is not warped. To find the center of an object you must measure each of its dimension. If you want to find the center of a shoe box you need to know the hight, the width, and the depth. Knowing two out of three will not help you. So to find the center of the universe we must understand all of its dimension first.
