I would think that light pulled into a black hole would simply be tranformed into heat. After all, isn`t this what happens when solar radiation hits the earth or when you shine a flashlight for a long time on a sheet of black felt. Energy is conserved, but the form changes. Conservation of energy does not require that the frequency of the photons remain the same.
