: It is theoretically possible, and the transport would probably be instantaneous; and in fact, you may arrive at another time, and even in an entirely different universe! The problem with all this is, that what looks good on paper under strictly defined conditions doesn't always hold up in nature. When you have a singularity of virtually infinite density, and it creates and "event horizon", the envelope beyond which no matter or energy can escape, a very special environment is set up that is, for practical purposes, one-way. To have another side at which the "white hole" spits out stuff from our universe means that at that location, the stuff coming out would have to overcome the saem forces that they cannot overcome in our universe. This creates a problem; if the wormhole delivers us to our universe, then the saem rules of spacetime exist and we will not be able to get out, so this seems impossible. If the wormhole delivers us to a universe with a different set of dimensions from spacetime, in which we are allowed to overcome the forces that would hold us in, we might also find ourselves locked into a set of dimensions that make no sense and in fact do not support us. In a nutshell, we would be nonexistent. So far, wormholes only exist in science fiction.

I have heard that we could possibly travel to Sirus in 15 minutes even though it is 8LY away. Would this happen through the process of a wormhole, and if so, why wouldn't it be instantaneous?
