I would just like to recommend a book that may help you understand everything that you are talking about. It is called "A Brief History of Time From the Big Bang to Black Holes" by Stephen Hawking. Even though he is one of the greatest minds of our time he can explain difficult concepts in terms that can be grasped (not easily grasped) by non scientists. One thing I would like to add. Light is not completely understood. In some experiments it acts as a wave and in others it acts as matter. There are a lot of things in science that are not understood even though we can interact with them. Gravity, for example, is not understood. we know haow to measure it but and we know it is caused by objects with mass, but we don't know how the interation takes place. I feel that when we get answers to questions like these, we will have made a quantum leap (no pun intended). Good luck on you quest,
