A prophet is one who speaks forth openly before anyone. A proclaimer of a divine messgae: an interpreter of the oracle. At one time called a seer, showing that what really constituted a prophet was immediate intercource with God. One in whom the divineity permits his word to spring forth or one to whom anything is whispered. Or one in whom the spirit of God rested. It can be past, present, or future truth made known. Christ means anointed.
