[15] I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
[16] So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.


What matters according to my interpretation of this passage is that your beliefs must be strong to impress God no matter exactly what your beliefs are.


By the way, John said what is in 3:18, not Jesus. And the John that wrote that book is not the Apostle John who had already died and did not write in Greek. The Book of John was written in Greek. The Apostles along with Jesus spoke Aromaic and maybe could write in Hebrew. But as far as I can tell all the Apostles were illiterate. Only Paul originally Saul could write in Greek and he was not an Apostle.

That is why we can only pay attention to direct quotes of what Jesus said. The rest is just opinion. For example, what Paul wrote has been shown to be often the opposite of what Jesus said. Essentially Paul turned Christianity into a Roman religion rather than the Jewish religion it originally was. I think Paul ruined Christianity.
