I've never machined it per se, but I have ground it to conform to various shapes, and can advise that it melts rather than grinds off - but it's very easy to work with. Just let it cool and snap off the melted section every 1/8" cut or so - so it doesn't get too thick on you. Have also cut with a hot knife, but that didn't work out as well for me - rough edges left, while dringing left reasonable finish that could be easily smoothed with a file. Hope that helps some!
