: I live near Walnut Creek and I'm thinking of building an eight inch Dobson. I woould like to find a nearby star party to go to, to se if I am up to the task. Either post a response on the forum, or E-mail me @ J_Suback@hotmail.com

There is a telescope makers workshop in Oakland at the Chabot Observatory. It meets every Friday evening. I would call to get the exact address, then when you get there ask for Paul. Paul runs the shop and will explain how things work. M. Traub
