Hello Josh, I installed the focuser on the tube and designed my objective cell so that I could slide it in the tube, then I pointed the scope first on the horizon and moved the objective until I could get it to focus with my highest and lowest power eyepieces and maintain proper travel in my focuser with the star diagonal attached then I fine tuned the objective placement with a star, I marked the location removed the objective and cut the tube to finished length there was a difference of about 2 inches in additional focus travel needed when viewing without my diagonal...Bob.
