I also was concerned about the weather, so I built mine with two 12'x4"x3/4"flaps, front and back that flipped up in the front when the roof rolled back and flipped down in the back at he same time using standard local hardware. Still works after seven years. The sides have a 2"x8"x12' on both sides that extend down past the wheels and run along as part of the roof. Not air tight, but keeps the weather out.
