Making A Reflector Out Of An Old CRT (TV Tube)

Does anyone know if it is feasible to make a reflector out of the face of an old TV tube? I have seen them up to 20" in diameter with a thick- ness of 1/2". The glass is fused to a steel ring/collar which seems like an ideal mount. The curvature seems to be of a constant radius but I have no way to guage the optical potential. Face silvering is available nearby. Could it yield a quality mirror or just burn money and time? Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.
