Another Mirror Polishing Question

I am now polishing my 8" blank. I noticed that the first 1"-1 1/2" of the outside mirror diameter is not being polished as much as the middle portion. It is also evident from the knife edge test when the middle 6" of the mirror is nice and bright but there is about a 2" dark band around the outside. Does this indicate that it is not being properly polished? Maybe the pitch lap has to be reformed using warm pressing?

Thanks, Joe
