: Simple question ...what is the minimum size telescope I will need if I want to see the Andromeda Galaxy as NOT just a spot of light but a disk (no matter how small) ? Your naked (you really should cloth it tho) eyeball. The Andromeda Galaxy takes up a fair bit of sky. Under good conditions, it is a naked eye object. Any binoculars will, of course, make it much more visible. The popular Meade 8" or 10" SCT in the F6.3 variety still clip the edges of that object. It like the M101 Galaxy and the Orion Nebula are really lowpower objects! |
