Everybody Should Have This Problem (24" Blank Too Thick)

I have recently come across some large mirror blanks. One in particular is a 24" x 4" thick Fused silica blank.

The blank weighs in excess of 150lbs. this, as you can understand poses two significant problems: 1.) it will probably never reach thermal equlibrium, and 2.) will break my back if I even try to lift it.

So what can i do? Is it possible to slice the blank in half? If I did slice it in half would strain be introduced in a blank made of fused silica and therfore requiring a re-annealing?

(BTW, this is the *smallest* one I got )

TIA,

-Phil
