Consider putting only the optics outside, and the human observer inside. I have seen a number of photos of such setups, but have no direct experience. The most interesting looked like a guard shack with a window in the roof. The scope was on the outside and could tilt up and down in altitude, the entire shack turned in azimuth. See the book on "unusual telescopes". Good luck
