Modifing A Meade DS Equatorial Mount

I have a couple of these and I am making them more convenient for viewing and photography. It is amazing what a few simple modifications can do. The mounts do not have Dec. Drives but I will be adding these. For wide field work Declination adjustments aren't needed if the polar alignment is accurate. I am going to add a Dec drive for comet work. These are nice light weight mounts for field work. One very important modification is a latitude adjuster that costs $1 and requires just one hole drilled. If there is an interest let me know. |
