How Much Grit And Pitch For A 12inch F/5-f/6 Mirror?

I need the amount big enough to not run out of it in the process but not too big that alot of the grit gets unused.

Keep in mind please that it might be necesarry for me to go a step or two back in case of scratches.

Is 1lbs pitch sufficiel for a polishing tool?

As you can see I haven't provided the grit numbers. I need advice on them too.
