Reflector Disadvantages

After the reasons I gave in the previous notes, the following also apply.

The reflector is much harder to keep in collimation and is easily knocked out of it.

The image (simple Newtonian type scope) in the eyepiece is rotated if the eyepiece is not truly vertical.

The image is reversed left-right unless a roof prism is used in place of a digonal.

generally, open tubes are much harder to keep dust and other crud off the optics.

The above does not apply to the closed tube Maksutov and Schmidt versions as commercially produced. A special prism arrangement is needed in the eyepiece diagonal though to have the image correct.
