Painting Tubes.

I've always used flat black paint to do mine. A brush on finish is fine enough unless you are picky about the smoothness of the finish and then you just be more careful when painting.
Start painting in the middle of the tube and use both ends to reach in.
I've done a 72" tube of about 5" diameter this way quite nicely.
