It sounds to me like the primary is too far away as a focal plane that far down would not allow for the focus of almost any EP.
Set the focus point so that a 32mm EP ie very near the top of the focus range and this is usually the right point to allow for all other EPs to focus without problems.
Newt indicates that the focuser vignettes the 75% rays which indicates to me that the secondary is quite large enough to be able to see all of the primary.
