The barlow will vignett as it has a smaller aperture than the focuser itself. Past this, the barlow opens up the cone so that the focal point is further away, allowing for a larger FL EP to be used in an application. Note that the barlow is best used with short FL EPs and thus the problem with vignetting is minimized as the FOV is going to be a lot less than the larger FL EPs. |
