Ah, sort of read that part about the number of pits backwards.
Sounds like you just have to keep at it more than anything else since the pits are indeed going away. Rouge is a fair bit slower working than CeO and it usually takes about 6 hours or more to do a 8" mirror, depending upon how fine your grit was that you stopped with. I've never done a mirror solely on rouge so I can't say how long it will take for that.
