Rings On Tools

You bought a Newport Glass mirror kit?
The rings are intended to act as resovoirs of grit when doing the grinding. The theory works somewhat but I've never felt the need for that additonal help in grinding.
The bad thing about the rings is that when you get the radius into the mirror and tool, the outer rings have been worn fully away and that is where you need the additional grit to keep things going.
