I'd assume you're making the scope mostly for planetary viewing? [and doubles??] If that's the case, going above 8" would probably not be necessary for a number of reasons, a couple being:

You're not dealing w/ the dim DSO's so light grasp is not as much of an issue.

The atmosphere will often be more of a limiting factor for the most part on planets [bright, extended objects] than the resolution of the 8" scope.

With the 8" you'll probably be below the swim/fuzz threshold when the seeing isn't ideal so you may like the images better [especially since you probably don't need quite the light grasp of the bigger aperture, as mentioned before].

Just some of my thoughts on this...
