i have an old criterion 8 (bosch and lomb) cassegrain. i bought it very used very terestrial work and it did fine. turn it to sky objects and it has the jitters in spite of rock solid tripod, funny focus, probable collimation errors, and has some tarnish on the primary. drive is 110 volt. the plate appears flat and the manufacturer's literature i have calls this a cassegrain but the only web based info i can find on criterion is schmidt. i can't stand for it to just sit there. it is calling me. is a criterion cassegrain a good scope worth the effort of re-building or should i donate this to the boy scouts? if i rebuild, any thoughts? the last scope i built was 25 years ago and i haven't kept up at all.
