I'm a telescope owner (store bought) and a mechanical Engineer trying to find simple optical formulas to design a 2 lens device similar to a spotting scope for the purpose of inspecting aircraft navigation components (ie: Flight directors, Glide solpe indicators & Rate of turn indicators). They need to deflect an accurate distance with a given current input to guide the pilot. These deflections need to be accurate, go figure if you ever fly.

I have searched the Web for several weeks and found nothing. I am picturing a 3 to 5 inch scope with a 1.5 to 3x magnification. If only I could find the know how to spec the lens(s) the rest would be easy. Edmund was of NO help, they don't sell anything like this and without several $1000 of cost will not give any tips. One example that could be transposed into what I need would be great. My Engineering is nuts & bolts kind of stuff and optics is out of my league, sorry to say.
Although I have gathered the plans for a couple of Dobs that I may try.........if I ever get this project completed!

Thanks in advance,
Kevin in Minnesota
