Thank you for your response. The website, by the way, is http://www.hipco-ne.com/scope.htm Very interesting idea. Their prices are a bit deceptive (once you figure in packing and shipping it comes to around $50 for a tube), but they aren't way out of line. It's an alternative to sonotube that I hadn't considered. I wonder if anyone has ever been able to get aluminum pipe from local suppliers?

Now one more question. I see they have 7" O.D. tubes (with thin walls). If I do decide to do a 6" scope, would it be okay to use a 7" tube or do I need to go with 8"? (I realize that either way they'll be lighter than PVC, but now you've got me thinking about weight!)
