Silicone Mirror Mounting

I have a 10" mirror that is about 1 1/4 inches thick. Should I use silicone to glue the mirror to my particle board mount? If so, could someone describe the proper procedure i.e. thickness, diameter, location and number of silicone blobs on mirror.
