Unfortunately, motorizing a focuser won't necessarily make it work better. You really want to tune up the focuser that you have to get rid of stiction of the mechanism. This is more important than anything else towards getting a good working focuser. I might mention putting a larger knob on for the focuser knob will also help in getting finer focus.
