Bob, my son says "the older I get the better I was!" There was a day that I would try something like that, but not now. I did buy a 175watt version of the inverter. Very compact and seems to be well built. I tried is last night at our star party and it worked very nicely. But I definitely need a drive converter that allows me to fast/slow at times. The unit designed for my mount is apparently in high demand or low supply, so none are in stock ate various distributors right now. Will have to be patient I guess. Maybe after I do get one I might try your idea. It does intrique me.
