Not really an atm thought but I saw a 400watt power inverter in Target today for 60.00. Takes 12vdc to 115vac with a "modified sine wave output" . I read this to mean a square wave, but will it drive a synchrous motor? I have a new Russian TAL-2m equitorial mount and the power supply that comes with it converts 115vac to 12vac keeping the 60cycle for the motor. So in the field I need to convert 12volts and wonder if this one from Target might work. I would sure hate to fry a 12ac Russian motor and then have to hunt one down!!!
