Move The Mirror

The best approach is to move the mirror forward about 1/2 inch. Simply redrill holes forward of the present holes and reposition the mirror and cell. Of course, remove the mirror and cell before doing all this!
The other option requires getting a shorter focuser OR modifying the present one. If you know someone with access to a lathe you can sometimes remove material from the top of the focuser to allow more downward travel. Also, instead of mounting the focuser on the top of the tube, you could mount it from the inside where the mounting flange is bolted to the inside of the tube. This usually requires enlarging the hole somewhat and removing the focus knobs and shaft temporarily to install the focuser. Hope this helps.

Walt
