Pads.

Take a sharp razor blade and cut off the lifting parts of the pads, making sure that the rest of the pad doesn't move.
Polish with the tool on top to get the outside of the mirror. Make sure that the pads aren't getting shiney when they are dry or you are not using enough water. As long as the pads are the color of the CeO they have enough CeO on them - too much CeO will slow the action down.
With the pads, you can stroke fast but when you go to pitch you will be wanting to slow way down to keep the pitch from causing problems with TDE.
