A Question About Polishing Pads

Been reading about polishing pads and i am wondering if i should use them, I have a set that came with the kit, is this a good thing or should i just go with the pitch lap to polish...from what i've read the pads would be a bit easier, and maybe even faster, barring an imperfect finish, which must be fixed with the pitch lap, before parabolizing begins.... opinions please. Thanks
